Introduction by Bruce Kawakami During February of 1974 The Who played their final Quadrophenia shows throughout several cities in France. With even more paring down since the US dates the previous fall the Quadrophenia section had all the sound effects removed including "I Am The Sea". The remaining "Old melodies from yesteryear" as Pete called them were the same as the last tour. Opening with a salvo of Can't Explain, Summertime Blues, My Wife, and My Generation followed by what was left of Quadrophenia. The end of the shows consisted of Won't get Fooled Again, Pinball Wizard, and See Me Feel Me with an extra song or two thrown in on good nights. This brief tour would mark the end of Who concerts dominated by new material. For the next quarter century the band from it's days with the original line up to the countless reunion tours would increasingly rely on a "greatest hits" type of performance. That is with one exception, oddly enough a revival of Quadrophenia performed in its entirety in 1996-97.
